Sarah is a historically accurate composite character, based on the testimonies of those who knew Anne Frank, as well as other victims, resisters and survivors of the Holocaust and World War II.
Like Anne Frank, Sarah is a young Jewish girl in Amsterdam when Hitler comes to power in the 1930s, whose experiences under Nazi rule, in hiding and through the concentration camps parallel Anne’s story.
Through the Eyes of a Friend remains faithful to Anne Frank's life and her world.

Developed from excerpts from Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl and Dr. King’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” this piece evokes the important messages from these legendary figures, as they write of their hopes and plans for a peaceful and unified world. This is currently our most-requested program, as it touches both students and adults of various backgrounds and demonstrates the universality of the human experience.

The Butterfly Project is a call to action through education, the arts and memorial making. We teach social justice through lessons of the Holocaust, educating participants about the dangers of hatred and bigotry to cultivate empathy and social responsibility. By painting ceramic butterflies, which are displayed as symbols of resilience and hope, participants remember the 1.5 million children killed during the Holocaust. In this work, The Butterfly Project honors our commitment to the Survivors to Never Forget.

Our team travels to your community to conduct a two day guide training where approximately 15 students are trained to be guides for the exhibit. They take a deep dive into the historical content, develop presentation and public speaking skills, and consider what this history means for us today and how we can be upstanders in our communities.
